About the ICIITB
The First International Conference on Innovation in information technology and business (ICIITB) will be taking place in Muscat, Oman, on November 9th and 10th, 2022. The Conference will be carried out in a hybrid format, allowing world-scattered academicians, researchers, and industry professionals to participate in this unique Conference for Oman and the GCC region.

Why Attend the ICIITB Conference
The participants of the Conference will get an opportunity to contribute to the contemporary implementation of cutting-edge research and development in the area of artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and the IoT in the business environment. The participants will get a first-of-a-kind networking and knowledge sharing opportunity to be a part of an event in Oman, that will gather recognized researchers from the GCC, Europe, the USA, and other parts of the World. Select research papers will also be published in a Springer-published Conference proceedings.
- All accepted papers will be published in ICIITB proceedings and selected papers will be published in Springer Nature Atlantis Press in a form of Proceedings - the Proceedings has already been added as the upcoming: https://www.atlantis-press.com/proceedings/all
- Additionally, Proceedings will be indexed in Google Scholar and all other relevant indexing databases. Moreover, request for indexing in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) has also been issued.

Keynote Speakers
H.E. Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani
- August 2020, he became the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.
- During 2019, Dr. Ali Al Shidhani worked as the Group VP of Technology at ASYAD Group. His role was to develop and steer technology and innovation strategy for ASYAD Group.
- Between November 2014 and January 2019, he Worked as the Director of the Research Centers department and Acting Director of the Institute of Advanced Technology Integration, as well as the Director of the Communications and Information Sector at the Research Council of Oman.
- Prior to that, he was a visiting researcher at City University London where he researched the topic of information security in future cities.
- Since October 2001 to October 2014, he was a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University.
- He published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences in addition to a book chapter.
- He also evaluated several master's and doctoral theses and supervised several graduation projects for bachelor's and master's students, and contributed to the launch of many initiatives,: including: the program for transferring graduation projects to emerging startups (www.upgrade.om) and the smart cities platform (www.smartoman.org) The EJaad platform for joint research between the industrial sector and the academic sector (www.ejaad.om) and the national network for technology transfer in the Sultanate of Oman.
- He is also a member of several national ICT committees and has delivered numerous presentations in ICT in national and international conferences and forums.
- In 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
- In 2003, he received his Masters of IT in Data Communications from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.
- In 2001, he received his B. Eng degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University in 2001.
Dr. Ahmed Al Maashri
Ahmed Al Maashri holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering. He is currently an Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University and the Head of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. He has published journal and conference papers in the areas of Computer Architecture, Reconfigurable Computing, Embedded Systems, Digital Logic, and Wireless Networks. Ahmed’s recent focus is on Artificial Intelligence, embedded vision systems, and designing hardware accelerators to speed up the performance of such systems. He has co-founded the Embedded & Interconnected Vision Systems Laboratory. He is recipient of the National Research Award in the ICT sector. He has been recognized with Sultan Qaboos University’s Best Teacher and Best Researcher Awards. Ahmed is a senior IEEE member, and he is the founder IEEE Oman Computer Chapter, and the past Chair of IEEE Oman Section.
Prof. Nebojsa Bacanin
Name in Serbian: Nebojša Bačanin-Džakula
Nebojsa Bacanin received his Ph.D. degrees from Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade in 2015 (study program Computer Science, average grade 10,00) and from Faculty of Business Studies, Megatrend University in 2014 (study program Economics/Computer Science, average grade: 9,33). He started University career in Serbia 15 years ago. He was the vice-dean of the Graduate School of Computer Science at Megatrend University. He currently works as an associate professor at Singidunum Univeristy and as the Vice-Rector for Research at Singidunum University.
